Joining the Dots is a small community based social work organisation based in Bell Block New Plymouth.

Joining the Dots was established in Paraaraumu in 2006 under its  legal name JTD Solutions Ltd. and became a registered  charity in 2010.

Mission Statement

Joining the dots encourages children and young people and their families/ whanau to make creative discoveries as a way to overcome challenging situations. Joining the dots facilitates interventions that connect the children and young people to their family/whanau, friends, education, work and community.

Vision

Joining the dots vision is for all children and young people to have a sense of belonging or connectedness to family/whanau, friends, education, work and community.

Highlights in 2013 – 2014

Joining the dots has had a busy and successful year. We have been privileged to work with numerous children, young people, disabled people and their families and agencies and staff within the communities of Porirua, Kapiti, Horowhenua, Palmerston North and Masterton.

Highlights

• The development of our  website
• Working alongside children, young people and their families and providing support through their individual difficulties and challenges
• Working with children and young people to develop their story, using narrative therapy concepts. Stories are developed into illustrated books or films. At the completion of their stories are told to an audience known as the outsider witness’s, inclusive of family and other important people in their lives. At the conclusion of the story telling a facilitated discussion was held  in regards to new learning that the story creates.
• Accepted to present at the World Social Work Conference in Melbourne on the topic of Authorising the voice of children and young people.
• Working in collaboration with A Safer Kapiti in supporting Voices against Violence and the Youth Justice Fresh Start contract
• Providing supervision to individuals and organisations

Joining the dots is registered as a company and also has charitable status.
